Research on the Method of Pattern Derivation Based on Shape Grammar:Take the Application of Lingyang Gong Pattern of Tang Dynasty in Leather Goods as an Example

  • In order to solve the problem of inheritance and innovation of traditional patterns under modern aesthetic methods, from the perspective of traditional pattern features and gene extraction, a design research method with simplified deduction steps was proposed on the basis of shape grammar deduction, which is conducive to improve the efficiency of pattern innovation, and meet the market's demand for rapid design. This article took the Tang Dynasty's Lingyang Gong-style innovation research as an example. Firstly, we clarified the typical characteristics of the pattern, analyzed them in combination with the type spectra, and extracted the design factors while preserving the pattern gene; secondly, in the process of deducing and transforming the factors by the shape grammar, it is based on the pattern. Derivative effect innovation added different forms of array commands, shortened the deduction cycle, and used scientific and rapid pattern derivation methods to obtain a group of design schemes that not only retain tradition but also integrate modern aesthetics. Finally, through the analysis of the needs of the target group, the derived patterns were applied to suitable leather goods carriers. The pattern derivation method based on the combination of shape grammar and array can improve design efficiency in the early stage of product development, realize the use of traditional patterns from the past to the present, and provide new ideas for the diversified integration of leather product design.
